Have you read "The Four Agreements"?
If you haven't you should. If you have, which agreement do you find hardest to commit to?
This is really not a book review however this book has been a very inspirational read, that I had to write about it. As we look at ways to keep excelling, growing in our lives we have to stop and reflect on how our values and attitudes shape our actions. We must also examine if these values we hold are aligned to the path we need to take to get to our goals.
The book is written by Don Miguel Ruiz and talks a lot about freedom and how fear of taking risks holds us back. Essential the book covers principles to embrace to live a fulfilled life and in freedom.
The four agreements are:
1. Be impeccable with your word. We act on what we tell ourselves is real. So, what kinds of words to you use when you describe reality? Do you lie and say hurtful and poisonous things about yourself and others? N
2. Don't take anything personally. The first agreement suggests that we avoid treating others hurtfully. The second agreement provides us with a way of dealing with potentially hurtful treatment from others.
3. Don't make assumptions. Obviously, none of us can read minds. When we try to engage in mind reading we will often be wrong, leading to undesirable consequences.
4. Always do your best. One obvious reason for doing your best is that we cannot achieve our goals by being lazy. If you do your best, you are more likely to achieve goals.
